About.

Maine Accelerates Growth (MxG) strives to build an “Entrepreneurial and Innovation Ecosystem” of cultural, financial, technical, policy, and relationship networks that can support entrepreneurs and innovators with ideas & technologies that have the potential to spread, scale, and change life in positive ways for large numbers of people.

In 2021, we will both work in small groups on strategic initiatives, and evolve the monthly meeting and communications to serve a broader audience.

HISTORY & IMPACT

MxG was founded in 2015 and initially had a portfolio approach of financial support which helped fund various projects across the state including:
  • MCE Top Gun Pitch Competition
  • University of Maine Innovate for Maine Fellows Program
  • Sustainability Lab for the Maine Food Systems Innovation Challenge
  • Treehouse Institute for TEDxDirigo
  • Our Katahdin Innovation Challenge

State of the Ecosystem Reports

MxG’s annual “State of the Entrepreneurial Ecosystem” reports on the vibrancy indicators identified by the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation. View our 2018 findings here. The presentation reports on activities in Maine that can move the needle on these vibrancy indicators—density, diversity, fluidity and connectivity. The 2018 State of Entrepreneurial Ecosystem event was held on March 28, 2018 in Augusta, ME.

Past Funders

Blackstone Charitable Foundation
In the fall of 2011, the Blackstone Charitable Foundation provided a $3 million grant to launch Blackstone Accelerates Growth ("BxG"), an endeavor to create Innovation Hubs throughout the state to bring together programs and resources to support and grow Maine’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.  MxG's work builds upon this program’s success. Read BxG’s 2015 Impact Report here.
